Is Farrah Abraham the Next Bethenny Frankel?
She’s been called a lot of names, but do you think people are just being too hard on Farrah Abraham? (see what I did there?)
Sure, at first glance Farrah comes across as a directionless puppy. But then again didn’t we all in our early twenties? In fact, she’s a lot further along in her career than another reality star turned successful entrepreneur who also had to kiss a lot of frogs before finding her prince at the bottom of a bottle of alcohol.
Who am I referring to? Well, you’ve already read the title of this article so I’ll stop pretending to create suspense. The truth is, if Farrah continues down this path, she could end up becoming a complete train wreck… or she could become the next Bethenny Frankel. Now, whether or not you think those two are synonyms is a whole other article.
Let’s look at the evidence.
We know Bethenny Frankel as a reality star turned best-selling author, talk show host and Skinnygirl mogul. But before Bethenny was ever famous she had a pretty lengthy resume, which included everything from being a struggling actress to a personal assistant to a "Pashmina Princess," which I'm assuming involved selling pashminas. She was also a production assistant, a nanny, and after gaining a culinary background she became a private chef. Sound familiar?
Farrah also has a degree from a culinary school and at one point she planned to go into restaurant management. She’s also attempted modeling and acting- unsuccessfully but she's not even 25 - AND she's already a successful reality star with a best-selling book which is more than what Ms. Frankel could have said for herself when she was around that age.
And the similarities don’t stop there. Both Bethenny and Farrah have bad relationships with their mothers; both have had documented romances, pregnancies and the birth of their children on television; and both have deep-rooted emotional problems that they explored in therapy on reality TV.
I know what you're probably thinking. But Bethenny hasn't done porn. This is true. However Bethenny did star in a low-budget B-movie back in the early 90s, which involved lots of nudity and sex. And with "leaked" sex tapes essentially being the modern-day equivalent for desperate actresses trying to get into the business, it could be considered too close for comfort.
So before we knock Farrah, maybe we should take a second to remember how young she is. Many 24-year-olds, including ones who go on to be successful, have no clue what they want to do with the rest of their lives. But if Farrah Abraham is following the road map that Bethenny Frankel has left behind, we could be looking at another mogul on our hands. And at the rate Farrah’s going, her career could eclipse Bethenny's long before 43. Food for thought.
